Jaw-dropping birthday cake burns away layers to show Charizard evolution

A cake decorator on TikTok is going viral after showing off a Pokemon-themed “burnaway” cake featuring all stages of Charizard’s evolution.

Cake creator Namaya Navaratnarajah has taken the internet by storm with her “burnaway” cakes.

The unusual desserts feature layered images that are then set alight, burning away to reveal a whole new picture underneath.

With nearly 90,000 followers on her ‘cakesbynams‘ TikTok channel alone, Namaya has left viewers blown away by her jaw-dropping creations — her latest showcasing all stages of Charizard‘s evolution.

At first glance, the video appears to showcase a normal cake complete with piping and a picture of Charmander… that is until Namaya added some fire to the mix.

Before long, the image of Charmander bruns away from the center, revealing a second picture underneath. This time, Charmeleon can be seen. However, this was still not the cake’s final look.

Ignited by the already burning flame, Charmeleon too began to burn into oblivion to reveal the end result. Completing the three stages of evolution, Charizard then appeared out from beneath the cake’s previous layers

This isn’t the first time Namaya has used popular animated television shows to inspire her work, having previously posted a cake featuring three levels of Dragon Ball Z‘s Goku.

Fans were amazed by Namaya’s latest Pokemon creation, taking to the comments to offer their praise and suggest ideas for future videos.

“Amazing! Can’t think of a better use of fire than this,” one person wrote, taking into consideration Charizard’s fire-breathing abilities. Another said, “The way I was just transported back to my childhood and my mouth was hanging open in awe watching this cake evolve.”

Some, however, felt Namaya could have improved the cake’s evolution with one minor tweak; “You totally missed the chance to light the tail.”
