Overwatch is Increasing Their ‘Avoid as Teammate’ Limit

Users will be able to avoid more players as teammates for the 12th Competitive season of Overwatch.

The ‘Avoid as Teammate’ feature will be expanded to three players, effective immediately.

‘Avoid as Teammate’ is a way for players to self-police their teammates when no serious offense was committed.

If a user did not like playing with someone, for whatever reason, they could simply hit the ‘Avoid as Teammate’ button on that player and they would not be matchmade on the same team for a week.

Overwatch was initially hesitant due to how the feature could impact queue times, so the new action launched with only one available ‘Avoid as Teammate’ slot.

After initial success in the PTR and no negative impact on matchmaking times, the feature was expanded to include two players in April.

Now, ‘Avoid as Teammate’ is expanding once more to include three players at once.

Players on your ‘Avoid as Teammate’ list can still appear on the enemy team and are only removed from matching up with you for seven days.

After seven days are up, you can add the player back to your list or replace them.

No disciplinary actions are taken when using the ‘Avoid as Teammate’ feature, so actual abusive behavior should still be reported.

Overwatch players can finally unlock exclusive Contenders cosmetics and skins by watching Tier-2 matches, and to celebrate, Blizzard is giving away two free Genji skins.

Each month, players will be able to tune into Overwatch Contenders and earn two special skins for two select heroes.

Tracer may be the mascot for Overwatch League, but Genji is the mascot for Contenders, and as such, players will be getting home and away skins just by logging into their accounts.

Plus, players will be getting access to special a player icons and an in-game spray.

How to unlock October’s Mercy & Symmetra skins

To kick off the new viewership incentives, players have to link their Battle.net account on the Contenders homepage and watch a few hours of content.

For October, players will need to watch seven hours of content to unlock the home and away Symmetra skins.

To unlock the home and away Mercy skins, players will need to watch 15 hours of content, or at least leave their computers on the Contenders homepage.

Contenders features many regions including North America, Korea, Europe, China, South America, and Australia, so there are all sorts of chances to tune in.

Plus, the site is teasing event-specific rewards to come in the future with large events such as the Gauntlet, which takes the best teams from all regions and pits them against one another for Tier-2 supremacy.

The Contenders skins had been leaked previously.

The skins had been teased quite a long time ago, with the cosmetics originally leaking when the game’s newest hero, Echo, went live. However, Blizzard pulled them claiming they had been “erroneously made available for purchase with OWL Tokens.”

At least now players will get chances to support Tier 2 and earn unique cosmetics in the process. Not a bad deal. We can’t wait to see what skins are going to be unlockable next month.
