Overwatch role queue is finally live and with it, a new two week competitive beta season is among us. With the community finally experiencing 2-2-2 on the live client, we thought we would highlight the best reactions.

Role queue had been a major desire within the Overwatch community for a few years with YouTube channels such as Unit Lost and Your Overwatch leading the charge and wanting ranked team compositions to feel balanced.

Stylosa, who runs the Unit Lost channel asked his followers if they had any massive skill rating swings after completing their placement matches. Some saw rank increases while others saw their SR vary heavily depending on their role.

“I only got gold rank damage and diamond for tank/support,” AlexDaCake replied.

Your Overwatch has concerns over massive SR changes boosting people to ranks they shouldn’t be at, but was pleased to see things weren’t as bad as they were on the Public Test Realm.

As for their personal experience, they wrote, “We got boosted away from each other when playing which sucked. But a lot of people picked bunker which was rolled over constantly with Zarya & Rein/Sig. People tried in most games too, I like it. Just concerned about boosts.”

Others, such as Contenders pro Carter, weren’t pleased that the game’s newest hero, Sigma, was in competitive right away and thinks there should be a way to prevent two main tanks from being used at the same time.

“Orisa Sigma is so fucking dogshit HOLY fuck why can you play 2 maintanks,” the DPS star wrote.

“YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY 2 MAIN TANKS.

TANKS SHOULD HAVE CLASSIFICATIONS. ALL TANKS SHOULD NOT BE IN THE SAME CATEGORY,” he angrily typed.

Washington Justice pro Nikola ‘Sleepy’ Andrews had a simple, to-the-point take, “after 2 years… overwatch is finally playable lets go.”

Former pro player Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel, who placed at 4200 as a support doesn’t think he deserved such a high rank.

“Hey @PlayOverwatch I am not a 4200 SR support player. To reach my actual rating from there, it will take me DOZENS of games where my team will be at a significant disadvantage,” the popular Twitch streamer wrote.

“This will put a big strain on the playerbase since the issue is reported all across the board.Fix pls.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Blizzard handles role queue going forward, but generally the reaction has been quite positive so far.
