Overwatch announces Competitive Season 15 start date

Overwatch players won’t have to wait long at all after the end of Season 14 for the new Competitive season to begin.

In a post to the official Overwatch forums on February 25, Tom Powers, the Overwatch Community Manager, provided players with the end date and time for Season 14, as well as when Season 15 would be getting started.

Competitive Season 14 is scheduled to officially end on Thursday, February 28 at 4:00 p.m. PST, and there will be no break between seasons.

That means that Overwatch’s Competitive Season 15 will begin exactly at 4:00 p.m. PST on February 28, with zero break in between seasons.

Previously, there have been days or hours of offseason but this time it seems Blizzard decided to do away with the break entirely.

Once Season 14 ends, players will be immediately able to start their placement matches for Season 15.

Like with previous seasons, players who complete their placement matches before the end of Season 14 will receive a special spray and player icon.

Players who make it to top 500 will receive a special spray and icon that shows they were top 500 as well.

We don’t know exactly why Blizzard chose to get rid of any sort of offseason period between seasons, but with offseason times steadily decreasing, it seems like this could become the new normal for Overwatch.
