Overwatch 2 has finally launched its new Hero Mastery Mode as part of the Season 6 mid-season patch giving players plenty of new rewards to unlock.

Season 6 has been Overwatch 2’s largest content expansion yet with new PvE story missions, a very powerful support hero Illari, plus the Flashpoint mode, but that’s not all.

On September 7, Overwatch 2 released its next installment of content in the form of Hero Mastery, giving players the chance to show how good they really are with their main in the form of unique obstacle courses.

The courses will have players tackling upgraded training bots, dodging attacks, leaping to far-off platforms, and setting new high scores. All with some new cosmetics to unlock in the process, too.

Overwatch 2 Hero Mastery Mode finally goes live

The single-player Hero Mastery Mode will only feature a handful of heroes to begin, letting players select from Mercy, Reinhardt, and Tracer. Sojourn and Winston will join later this season with more coming after that.

By completing courses, beating bots and collecting Emblems, players can improve their high scores to be featured on the new Top 500 leaderboard.

“Each hero comes with three courses, each with increasing difficulties. Completing the Recruit course with at least a 3-star rating will grant access to the Agent course,” Blizzard explained. “Testing your skills in the Expert course requires a 4-star rating or higher in the Agent course.”

Best of all, each hero has unique rewards including Player Icons, Name Cards and bonus Battle Pass XP after mastering the three courses. Additionally, a special event is being held until September 25 with even more unlockables.

Weapon charms, titles, sprays and more cosmetics will be available by completing limited-time challenges.

Although this mode may not make up for what fans had expected with some of the canceled PvE content, it will be very interesting to see how the community reacts and just how competitive Hero Mastery becomes.
