Drake Maye replaces Daniel Jones in latest New York Giants mock draft

The Giants are actively seeking an upgrade at the quarterback position. Daniel Jones gets relegated to the bench following a massive trade in this mock draft.

New York committed to quarterback Daniel Jones last off-season after the former first-round pick led his team to the NFL playoffs.

However, Jones’ injuries and underwhelming play in 2023 have reportedly given the Giants “buyer’s remorse” toward Jones.

Giants Mock Draft: Drake Maye is on the way

In today’s mock draft, general manager Joe Schoen sets out to find a quarterback worth building around, as Jones is not the long-term answer for the Giants.

A Mock Draft Trade!

Giants acquire:
•No. 3 overall pick (2024)

Patriots acquire:
•No. 6 overall pick (2024)
•No. 47 overall pick (2024)
•Future first-round pick (2025)

The Giants swap first-round picks with the Patriots while also sending a 2024 second-rounder and a future first in the deal.

Round 1, Pick 3 — Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

A savvy trade up the board sees Drake Maye land in the Big Apple.

Maye boasts remarkable arm strength on tape and is like a surgeon from the pocket. He’s also a threat as a runner when plays break down.

Head coach Brian Daboll is known as a quarterback whisperer after helping Josh Allen ascend to elite status. He’ll aim for the same success with Maye.

Round 2, Pick 39 — Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina

The Giants lack an elite option in the wide receiver room, but selecting Xavier Legette would instantly change that.

Legette features a stout build with blazing speed and an explosiveness that few of his peers in the 2024 NFL Draft can match.

Along with Maye and Daboll, Legette will help transform the offensive unit in New York.

Round 3, Pick 70 — Christian Haynes, OL, UConn

Christian Haynes is a plug-and-play offensive line prospect who flexes All-Pro potential from the interior.

Haynes is a bully on the football field, consistently clearing lanes for his running backs and keeping his quarterback clean.

For a Giants offensive line that ranked near the bottom of the league in 2023, adding Haynes is necessary in this mock draft.

Round 4, Pick 108 — Max Melton, CB, Rutgers

Max Melton is an athletic cornerback who profiles as a starter early in his career. Melton must clean up his technique, but he could be a steal at this value.

Round 5, Pick 140 — Brandon Coleman, OL, TCU

Another offensive lineman heads to New York as the Giants bring in Brandon Coleman to compete for an immediate starting spot up front. He has tackle-guard versatility.

Round 6, Pick 185 — Rasheen Ali, RB, Marshall

Saquon Barkley will hit free agency this off-season. It’s unknown if the Giants will be able to retain their star running back.

If Barkley walks, Rasheen Ali is the ideal successor for the offense.

Ali is an all-around threat, boasting incredible vision, patience, and contact balance on tape. He is quick and could even be a dominant pass catcher in the NFL.
