Chicago Bears star Justin Fields spoke about the Atlanta Falcons as the trade discourse continues

The Chicago Bears are considering trading quarterback Justin Fields this off-season. One team, the Atlanta Falcons, has emerged as a potential destination for Fields.

Justin Fields began his football career as a highly-touted high school recruit out of Georgia. He initially committed to his hometown Bulldogs before transferring to Ohio State.

The Bears traded up for Fields at the 2021 NFL Draft, hoping to find a long-term starter at quarterback. In three years, the returns have been a mixed bag thus far.

Fields has solidified himself as one of the best runners at the quarterback position while his arm talent jumps off the screen. However, inconsistency has plagued the Buckeye alum during his professional career.

A 10-28 record as the starter highlights the turbulent play that litters Fields’ tape. His supporters have argued that the Chicago front office is to blame, suggesting that a change of scenery could do wonders.

Justin Fields praises Atlanta Falcons amid trade rumors

In an appearance on The 33rd Team podcast, Fields brought up the Falcons when discussing his NFL future. “Atlanta would be tough. I think they got a lot of playmakers on the team,” the 24-year-old said on Wednesday.

“Of course, Bijan [Robinson]. They got my boy Kyle [Pitts]. And Drake [London]. They definitely got some guys over there,” Fields remarked. “And their defense was good this year, too. Jessie [Bates] went crazy this year. Calais Campbell is still turning up.”

If the Bears trade Fields, several NFL analysts believe Atlanta makes the most sense. As he stated during the podcast, the roster is already loaded with talent. And Fields could be the final piece to getting the Falcons back into postseason play.

Spotty quarterback play frequently plagued the Atlanta offense in 2023. Plugging Fields into a unit that features superstars across the board is undoubtedly enticing for general manager Terry Fontenot.

With the Falcons behind multiple quarterback-needy teams in the NFL Draft order, a trade with the Bears might be the quickest way to upgrade the quarterback position. A homecoming for Justin Fields could be in order this off-season.
