Fans absolutely loved Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic’s bromance during All-Star Weekend and want them to team up with rumors that Doncic may be unhappy on the Mavericks.

Fans want to see Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic and Denver Nuggets two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic join forces following a swirl of rumors suggesting Doncic’s openness to switching teams.

Both European stars put their bromance on full display during All-Star Weekend, leading many to fantasize about their complementary play styles, continental ties and rapport off the court making for a potential dynamic duo that can take the league by storm.

NBA enthusiasts jumped on the Doncic trade rumors in hopes of putting external pressure on the Nuggets, or any franchise for that matter, to bring the pairing to life.

Luka Doncic trade rumors are causing a frenzy

Despite the Mavericks trading for PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford at the trade deadline, Doncic has not been appeased. A report from SNY’s Ian Begley (via Brew Crew Sports’ Eddie Presti) surfaced last week that Doncic may seek a trade if the Mavs fail to make a deep playoff run in 2024.

Fueling speculation during All-Star Weekend, Jokic got the ball rolling in a series of comical moments with the Mavs star, pouring water on Doncic’s head during a press conference, per Altitude TV’s Katy Winge.

Doncic and Jokic then tried to put Golden State Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry on a poster in layup lines, generating laughs from the three. Their chemistry grabbed the attention of Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis and moreso, an intent fanbase that has since championed their pairing.

On X/Twitter, one fan expressed his eagerness to see Doncic and Jokic on any team so long as they’re in the same uniform:

It also helps that Jokic showed love to Doncic on a more serious note by naming him to his European All-Star starting five, indicating his respect and affinity for Doncic’s game, as Harrison Wind revealed on X.

Doncic and Jokic are both in the midst of MVP-caliber seasons for their respective teams. Doncic’s 9.5 assists and Jokic’s 8.9 dimes per night would make them the most formidable playmaking duo in the league today. Redundant aspects of their games such as their underwhelming athleticism can be overlooked in favor of their elite level talent and versatility across the board.

The pair’s most ardent supporters have little doubt that the two could win an NBA title or several together. The feasibility of such a move happening in the near future, while unlikely, is not out of the realm of possibility considering the influx of player movement and superteams in recent years.
