TSM finally reveal when they’re returning to pro League of Legends

TSM bowed out of the LCS, citing a desire to play in a region that’d give them a real shot at a world championship in League of Legends, a not-so-subtle jab at North American League of Legends. After a long silence on the matter, TSM have finally given us more details on when they’ll return.

TSM is an org that started in League of Legends as the team that’d define the esport for years. Despite their sore lack of success internationally, the team’s iconic branding and longtime stars like the now-retired Bjergsen really helped the org establish itself as one the most recognizable in esports.

Even with the organization having laid off the vast majority of its staff and pulling out of most of the esports they’re invested in, few League fans out there wouldn’t know about TSM’s legacy.

And now, despite them having a small crew, they’re still planning to break into another League of Legends region and buy up a slot. This was announced prior, but TSM hadn’t nailed down a date for when they’d be returning. Until now, that is.

TSM plan League of Legends return at the end of 2024

It’s been a strange time to be a TSM fan. The organization is absent from the esport that made them and has given longtime supporters of the org few things to hold on to. Other than longtime stars like Leffen in fighting games and ImperialHal as one of Apex Legends’ most well-known pros and personalities, the org is pretty much non-existent in the current esports landscape.

However, an update from TSM on their subreddit has revealed the organization’s plans to return to their flagship esport, along with some other information about the organization’s future.

“We want to reaffirm that TSM is still fully committed to esports,” the post claims. “Although we cannot share many of the finer details of our plans for the future, we can confirm that we are actively looking to participate in multiple Tier 1 esports including League of Legends, VALORANT, and Call of Duty.”

They’d go on to double down on their plans to return to League and gave a time window on when fans can expect their comeback.

“We are diligently working towards our goal of acquiring a League of Legends franchise slot in a Tier 1 region by the end of 2024. This process takes time and requires patience as negotiations of this magnitude have many hurdles along the way. We are equally as eager as you are for TSM to return to LoL Esports,” TSM said.

TSM fans didn’t take this news too well considering they’d have to wait until the 2025 season to get another League team. Even though the org announced that it’d be picking up a Rocket League team, those who have been with the organization for a long time weren’t thrilled they’d have to wait so long to see their banner in League of Legends again.

“End of 2024 for a League team means not even Summer split, unfortunately. Hope y’all retain Leffen and the Apex boys until they retire. They’re the only ones keeping TSM’s legacy afloat,” commented one Redditor.

It’s important to mention that this information is tentative and subject to change. It remains to be seen if TSM can acquire a slot and which region they end up becoming a part of.
