Genshin Impact players slam “disappointing” Lantern Rite festival Adepti NPC designs, with many calling for changes.

The Genshin Impact Lantern Rite festival is well underway, and players from around the world are busy delving into the latest events and quests. Not only can Travelers get their hands on their free Xingqiu skin, but there’s also the 4-star character selector, which features the new Pyro character Gaming.

However, not everything has gone down smoothly in the game’s community, as many players have been left disappointed with Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver’s NPC designs. This has led to players wanting the developers to overhaul their “disappointing” designs.

“Hoyo did Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver real dirty this Lanturn Rite,” said one player. “This event only just started and I already rank this absolutely dead last of all the Lanturn rites because of this disrespect.”

Other Travelers noted how lackluster their designs are, but there’s still hope that the devs will adjust their forms in future updates. “Truly a disappointment making [them] into generic NPC dudes. But let’s hope this is not their true human form yet. Maybe they will get the Cloud Retainer/Streetward Rambler treatment someday.”

Another player joked about Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver’s design when compared to Xianyun (Cloud Retainer), whose human design is incredibly flashy.

It’s really funny because it implies Cloud Retainer is just being extremely extra. All the Adepti, including Ping, opted for unassuming NPC designs in order to blend in among humans…Meanwhile, Cloud Retainer goes around in the flashiest outfit possible, with full body tights, bright colors, multi-colored hair, talon tipped gloves, and an entire collection of Adepti mechanisms.”

It’s important to note that most Adepti take on unassuming human forms to blend into society and avoid drawing attention to themselves. So, it’s not out of place for Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver to look this way.

Either way, the game’s community hopes that HoYoverse will adjust Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver’s final designs in the future.
