Last Epoch is finally out and popular Twitch Streamer, Asmongold, has given his early impressions on the Diablo-style game.

Asmongold has been busy playing through Last Epoch, a new game that aims to rival the likes of Diablo 4 and Path of Exile. So far, the game has proven incredibly popular and the servers have been buckling under the pressure, with thousands of adventurers logging in for some co-op fun.

Last Epoch recently reached 189k concurrent players on Steam, with the number expected to rise in the coming weeks. One player who has been delving into the dungeon-crawling game is none other than popular Twitch streamer Asmongold.

While it’s still early days for Last Epoch, that hasn’t stopped Asmongold from giving his first impressions of the action RPG game

“The game was really fun to play and I really enjoyed it a lot,” said Asmongold. “The real problem I had with Diablo, was that the game didn’t really feel very interesting. [Last Epoch] feels interesting, like in terms of the fluidity of the gameplay.”

Asmongold believes the game feels similar to Path of Exile, in that progression feels good, and the combat is impactful. The streamer also noted how Last Epoch is less complex than PoE, which makes the bar to entry a little lower.

This is particularly positive for those who have often tried and failed to get to terms with PoE’s mechanics and intimidating player skill tree. However, Asmongold did highlight one thing he’d like to see added to the game in the future.

“If I could add anything to this game, it would be a roll that I could activate through spacebar in the exact same way that Diablo 4 has. Lost Ark did it, Diablo 4 stole it, and I wish this game did too. It’s one of the only things I wish it would have, because it just feels good to use.”

Despite enjoying his time in Last Epoch, Asmongold did urge players who are on the fence to give it a couple of days to two weeks. The streamer noted that this is likely when the community will discover if there’s anything glaringly wrong with the game.

“Guarantee you that Last Epoch will have setbacks and will have drawbacks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the game is bad, it just means that the game is not perfect. But I’m very positive about the game, I like it a lot.”
