Apex Legends released a new update on February 1, 2024, that disables certain PC configs, adds bug fixes, and much more.

Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment made waves in the community when they assured fans that they would be taking major steps to rebalance movement in the battle royale.

This would come via a patch that would disable the ability to set up configs for controller and mouse and keyboard, essentially disabling configs for advanced movement tech.

Now, Respawn has released a patch that takes the first major step in this new balance shift. Here’s everything players can expect from the February 1, 2024 patch.

Apex Legends February 1 patch notes

Here are the full February 1, 2024, patch notes for Apex Legends:

  • The Final Ring will now close when playing Three Strikes matches on Storm Point
  • You can no longer chain cfg files via the +exec command during game time
  • Ash’s Common and Rare skins are once again available for players to use
  • Wattson’s ult will no longer regenerate shields through walls
  • Water textures on Kings Canyon and World’s Edge will no longer flicker or look distorted on PS5
  • Loadouts in Control now give you the correct weapons

The biggest change in these patch notes is undoubtedly the adjustments made to +exec commands.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the term, the ability to chain cfg files essentially allowed players to set up configs to easily execute complex movements like auto strafing, superglides, and much more.

This update came right after developer Respawn assured fans the team would be rolling out updates to disable the ability to chain cfg files and controller configs.

Next, the patch included a fix for the Final Ring during Three Strikes matches played on Storm Point. Ash players can also use Common and Rare skins again.

Wattson’s Ultimate ability will no longer regen shields through walls and water textures on King’s Canyon and World’s Edge will no longer glitch out on PS5.

Finally, those playing Control through the Mixtape playlist will find that loadouts now give players the correct weapons.
