Fortnite: Release date and time announced for highly anticipated v6.31 update – what to expect

Epic Games have announced the scheduling info for the highly anticipated v6.31 game update in Fortnite Battle Royale.

The update is set to go live on Tuesday, November 27 at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET / 10 AM GMT. Since this is a full game patch and not just a content update, there will be downtime, which means that matchmaking will be disabled 20-25 minutes prior to the release time.

The announcement for this update was made on November 26 via this post on the official Fortnite Twitter page.

Since patch notes for these updates don’t get released until after the downtime begins, there is no way to know what the entirety of the contents will be prior to that.

However, there have several things that Epic Games have already confirmed will be in the update, including the brand new variations of the Pump Shotgun, as hinted at in the wording used in the tweet above.

Epic will be adding Epic and Legendary variants of the Pump Shotgun via this update, which has already caused quite a stir in the community when it was announced earlier on the 26th.

This comes after Epic had already confirmed that there will be a fundamental change to how Pump Shotguns perform after the v6.31 update, which will improve the weapon’s effectiveness by increasing damage in close quarters while slightly reducing the range.

Additionally, all shotguns will now have at least 3 pellets hit per shot, which should considerably increase the minimum threshold for damage across the board.

Players can also expect for Epic to address the overpowered Mounted Turret item in one way or another. While it’s likely that they will implement further nerfs to it, there’s also the chance that they will just decide to vault the item altogether, considering how negatively its been received by the community since being added.

In addition, as with almost every update, a slew of new cosmetic items should be added to the game files, which data miners will very likely discover and leak within hours of the update going live.

We may also see some map changes implemented now that the winter season is getting closer and closer. Many are expected snow to be added to the Fortnite map at some point, preparations for which could be coming as early as this update.
