The High Stakes event for Fortnite is finally here, and the developers at Epic Games have provided a full explanation of everything that it entails.

Arguably the most exciting part of the V5.40 update, which was released on September 6, the High Stakes event includes a number of new cosmetics, challenges, and an all-new LTM called “Getaway”:

“Here’s the plan. Four safes have been loaded into supply drops scattered around the island, each carrying a large jewel. You and your crew must locate a safe, pick up the prize inside and getaway with the goods while battling enemies. The first four teams to make their way to a van with a jewel and getaway win! Are you up for the job?”

Players will be highly rewarded for playing the new mode – simply playing 10 matches will result in 5,000 XP and all the other High Stakes challenges are associated with cosmetic prizes.

The full list of High Stakes challenges is as follows:

  • Play 10 matches of The Getaway – Get 5,000 XP
  • Do 500 damage to Jewel carrying opponents – Unlock the Suited Up Spray
  • Pick up a Jewel in 5 different matches of The Getaway LTM – Unlock the Cash Flow Contrail
  • Complete all 3 Challenges – Unlock the Crowbar Pickaxe

There is also the all-new Wildcard outfit. The new skin will be “featured in the store periodically” throughout the High Stakes event and comes with a choice of four cosmetic masks – “one for each of your crew”.

The new Cuff Case back bling and Safecracker glider complete the High Stakes cosmetic set and will both be available in the item store.

Finally, you can get the Ace outfit, Swag Bag back bling and 600 V-Bucks when you purchase the Ace Pack in the in-game store.

The pack costs $4.99 or £3.99 and is a great starter pack for newer players or players that don’t own a Battle Pass.
