The decision to include Scoped Assault Rifles in the Sniper Shootout LTM (limited time mode) divided the Fortnite community.

Epic Games are one of the most responsive developers in the gaming industry when it comes to adjusting their game based on feedback.

One of the pillars of Fortnite’s success has been acting on the wishes of the community, with weekly updates adding and removing various parts of the title.

On Monday, June 11th the Epic Games team dropped Update V.4.4, and with the re-introduction of the Sniper Shootout LTM.

Just a matter of days later and there has been a notable change based on feedback, with the regular scoped assault rifle getting removed. The thermal version will remain with a reduced drop range.

One of the Epic Games development team posted on the Fortnite Battle Royale Reddit page to explain the situation.

“We’ve gotten a lot of feedback around the inclusion of the Scoped ARs in the Sniper Shootout LTM.

The LTM was designed with long range Sniper combat in mind and the standard Scoped ARs do not stay true to this design. However, we feel that the Thermal Scoped AR still fits the “Seek and Eliminate” style of the LTM and will remain for the time being, albeit with a reduced drop rate.”

Responses to the decision on Reddit were primarily positive, with users thanking Epic for listening.
