EA accidentally leak next FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Icon card

EA appear to have accidentally leaked the next Icon card coming to FIFA 20 Ultimate Team as part of the Libertadores DLC of March 2020.

Icons are amongst some of the rarest and most valuable players in the game, with some of the greatest players in the history of football being available at the peak of their ability. Among them are the likes of Ronaldo, Ruud Gullit, and Zinedine Zidane, to name just a few.

However, the CONMEBOL Libertadores DLC is coming to FIFA 20 on March 3, bringing South America’s premier club competition to the game. And with it, apparently, comes one of South America’s greatest ever talents in the form of a 91-rated Argentinian CAM card.

The Libertadores DLC brings some of South America’s finest to FIFA 20.

In a tweet posted by EASPORTSFIFA early in the morning of March 3, which was hastily deleted, EA said that “Juan Roman Riquelme joins the FUT Icon squad.”

Of course, he’s not actually been announced before and isn’t already available in packs, like the tweet would suggest. However, it has made it very clear what the intention is to bring the hype for Libertadores.

Riquelme is, without doubt, a legend of the sport, and many fans will be delighted to see him brought back to life within the game, and players will already be figuring out how best to get him in their squads, how much he’s going to cost and what he can bring to the table.

For the most part, his stats look fairly decent, with 93 dribbling and passing as well as 87 shooting, but his speed is really going to throw players off. With just 70 pace, Riquelme isn’t likely to fit the meta very well or be highly-desired by the top players, especially considering his CAM position.

However, building a system that fits around Riquelme, allowing him to simply make the plays between the midfield and attacking force, might be a good utilization of his abilities.

With the likes of Maradona, Pele, and Zidane all Icons available to be played in the CAM position, it’s not likely Riquelme is going to be the most desired player in his position. However, when he first arrives in packs, you can bet his price will be quite high since he’s new to the game.

As the tweet is deleted, we can’t 100% confirm or deny that this will be happening, but it looks to be the case that someone jumped the gun with an announcement. So, you best hope pack luck is on your side when the update drops.
