Diablo 4 bosses have begun teaming up in Season 3 and surprising unsuspecting Vault goers with deadly encounters.

Season 3 of Diablo 4 recently hit the live servers. Titled Season of the Construct, it sees players undertake a quest that takes them “deep beneath the sands of Kehjistan”. There an ancient technology lies hidden, one that’s key to the Demon Malphas, who plans on using it to rule Sanctuary.

Despite having a monumental launch back in 2023, Diablo 4’s seasons have been a tad hit or miss. Season of the Malignant dropped soon after the game launched, with many feeling the new content left something to be desired. Season 3 seems to be no different as well, with players lashing out at the seasonal offerings.

One such seasonal offering is the new dungeon Vaults. These offer fantastical rewards provided players are able to clear them. These vaults also feature a new random spawn boss like The Butcher, who may spontaneously join the fight against the player. All of this would normally be fine, but not when The Butcher decides it’s time to join in on the fun.

Son of Malphas is the new Season 3 enemy that can spawn randomly within vaults. Like the Butcher, he has a chance of spawning whilst players are clearing out the dungeon, providing dungeon grinders with a combat challenge.

However what wasn’t thought about when Son of Malphas was introduced was that he could also spawn in with the Butcher, the game’s original random spawn boss enemy. This is exactly what happened to Reddit user GaunerHarakiri, who experienced what happens when the bosses team up.

Fortunately, Gauner was able to survive the deadly encounter, maybe this was thanks to the new nerfs Blizzard placed on the seasonal boss, or maybe they’re just a fantastic Druid. Regardless, this new combination of bosses is sure to surprise and devastate any player they may come across.
