Diablo 4 players want simple change to replace regular Nightmare Dungeons

Some Diablo 4 players think the vaults introduced in Season 3 should replace the game’s Nightmare Dungeons.

Season of the Construct unleashed a new type of dungeon on the world of Sanctuary – vaults. These randomly generated excursions include hazards, traps, and other obstacles that make players work hard for loot and rewards.

Diablo 4 players weren’t immediately on board with the latest dungeon type, though, with many especially blasting the excessive use of traps.

Through a handful of Season 3 fixes, Blizzard developers have managed to tweak vaults for the better. Apparently, the adjustments are so well-liked that players want Nightmare Dungeons to take a backseat.

Diablo 4 fans wouldn’t mind if vaults replaced NMDs

The Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4 have long proven contentious among community members. And now it seems players know exactly how they’d like to see Blizzard toss them to the side – by using vaults in their place.

Reddit user maybesailor1 recently penned a post explaining why they won’t be able to revisit Nightmare Dungeons once Season 3 ends.

The user wrote, “I really don’t see myself doing NMDs next season unless something drastically changes.” They went on to explain they vaults are shorter, offer better rewards, and usually boast a “higher density of mobs.”

Diablo 4’s vaults were added on January 23, 2024.

A number of people responded to the Reddit thread in agreement with the original poster. One user said that, despite the annoying traps, “I agree. Vaults solved pretty much all the problems NMDs have. No stupid objectives, no backtracking, [and] constant waves of [enemies]…”

Another Diablo 4 player replied with the following thought, “Same, this s**t slaps. Vaults should be the new NM dungeons.”

Not everyone’s entirely on board, however. Some noted that while the Season 3 vaults are great, they “don’t drop nearly enough of the mats you need to make elixirs and incense.”

Yet another naysayer chimed in to argue that “for glyph leveling after level 100, NMDs are still superior IMO.”

Diablo 4’s third season is still in its infancy, so it should be interesting to see how players feel about vaults and Nightmare Dungeons in the weeks to come.
