Diablo 4’s latest hotfix addresses a progression-blocking bug that impacted the Drums of the Vault quest in Season 3.

The Season 3 update brought a new questline to the latest Diablo adventure, but one mission – Drums of the Vault – arrived with a terrible glitch in tow.

Following the Season 3 launch, numerous players reported an issue that prevented them from clicking on the Seneschal Brazier and upgrading their new pet companion.

A fairly simple workaround helped in this regard, but hopes were high that Blizzard would quickly deploy a proper fix. Fortunately, the developer managed to do just that.

Diablo 4 addresses Drums of the Vault progression glitch

The first hotfix for Diablo 4 1.3.0 went live in the afternoon of January 24. Most importantly, it squashes the progression-breaking bug that plagued the Drums of the Vault quest. Performance and stability-related adjustments were included in the Diablo patch, as well.

Blizzard’s release notes for the hotfix read as follows,

Bug Fixes:

  • Addressed an issue with the quest ‘Drums of the Vault’ that led to a progression blocker.
  • Stability and performance updates.

In confirming the Drums of the Vault fix on his personal Twitter page, Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher also addressed the mixed reception to Diablo 4 Season 3.

Fletcher told fans in part, “…we are also tracking the feedback from players since the start of S3. [The] team will be discussing feedback internally and will have updates later on this once we go through them some more.”

It’s still early in the season, but some players have already reached their wit’s end with the new content. Season 3’s traps have proven an especially troublesome pain point. And not everyone’s enjoying the addition of a mechanical companion. But perhaps minds will change as Blizzard continues to improve upon the experience.
