Warzone expert WhosImmortal has highlighted an overlooked SMG that is dominating in the battle royale after the recent buffs and nerfs – especially in close-range fights.

Whenever the Warzone devs drop a few weapon changes onto the battle royale, players are quick to experiment with other guns. Sure, not every update is massively meta-changing, but there is always room for something else.

That’s happened recently with the Season 1 Reloaded update in Modern Warfare 3, and with subsequent hotfixes, shifting the meta away from the likes of the MTZ Interceptor and MTZ 762, with the SMG category also going through a shift.

The Striker 9 was one of the SMGs that was buffed in the mid-season update, and is starting to become a little more popular – especially now WhosImmortal has highlighted a versatile loadout for it.

That’s right, the Warzone expert noted that the Striker is one of the best SMGs in the battle royale after all the changes, and it’s not just thriving in the typical close-range fights that you’d expect.

“This thing, especially post-update, is ridiculously good in the close-range and early mid-range as well. It is extremely versatile and I love that about it. Plus, this setup is just a ton of fun to use,” the YouTuber said.

Like most loadouts at the minute, this Striker 9 setup takes advantage of the JAK BFB muzzle and its ability to significantly nerf recoil.

  • Barrel: Striker Recon long barrel
  • Optic: Nydar Model 202
  • Magazine: 50-round drum

WhosImmortal has the SMG right up with more popular options in the form of the AMR9 and HRM-9 too, putting all three on a similar level in terms of power.
Of course, that could change when MW3 Season 2 comes around and other changes are implemented. For now, though, it’s worth giving the Striker 9 a go.
