CoD leaker claims Modern Warfare 2 remastered will have multiplayer

Call of Duty leaked TheGamingRevolution has claimed that Modern Warfare 2 remastered multiplayer is still in the works and set for release, despite Activision statements to the contrary.

Even though Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been going strong and offered a soft reboot on the hugely popular CoD series, plenty of fans have been hoping to see more still from the franchise’s roots.

There are maps in CoD: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer from Call of Duty 4, and the recent release of Modern Warfare 2’s remastered campaign has stirred the nostalgia further – but fans are hoping for more, especially in the form of a full-blown throwback multiplayer experience.

Modern Warfare 2’s iconic campaign has returned but there is no multiplayer to accompany it.

There have been rumors that, as well as the campaign, Modern Warfare 2 remastered would also have the game’s iconic multiplayer attached as well. Though, that hasn’t been the case.

Activision’s blog claimed that they aren’t planning to release the full-blown mutiplayer but, instead, work in some maps. Yet, TheGamingRevolution claims that isn’t the case. The reliable CoD leaker claimed that the mode is very much in the works and, according to his sources, is being playtested.

The YouTuber also added that he reckoned that the release of Modern Warfare 2’s remastered campaign was a test to see the response to its release.

In his latest video, the YouTuber even had a Twitter user send him a conversation between themselves and Activision support, with the support team member saying that Modern Warfare 2 remastered multiplayer would be releasing.

In the recording, the Activision support team member said that, though the plans hadn’t been released, to their knowledge, Modern Warfare 2 remastered multiplayer was going to be arriving at some point.

Of course, despite the conversation with Activision support, TheGamingRevolution noted that these employees don’t always have the inside information and answer questions to the best of their ability.

Yet, with his source claiming that Modern Warfare 2 remastered multiplayer is, indeed, in the works, the YouTuber believes it will be coming out.

As for when that release would be, however, the reliable leaker couldn’t offer up any further insight, so we’ll just have to wait and see if he is correct once again.

Returning for his final event of the Call of Duty League offseason, Team Summertime’s Davis ‘Hitch’ Edwards is hosting an enormous Black Ops 2 Invitational featuring former champions and popular content creators.

Throwback tournaments have been all the rage throughout the 2020 offseason and no one has been leading the charge quite like Hitch. Outside of hosting Warzone comps, his unique tournaments have spanned from Modern Warfare 2 to Black Ops 4. This time, his sights are set on 2012’s Black Ops 2.

Despite hackers ruining an early test for this particular event, the kinks have all seemingly been worked out. From former championship-winning teams to some of the biggest content creators, Hitch’s final event is set to be the biggest yet.

From how you can tune in, to every player joining the all-star Call of Duty event, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything there is to know about the Black Ops 2 Invitational.

The final event of the offseason is set to kick off on Wednesday, October 28. Opening matchups will be going live at 3PM EST (12PM PT) and the broadcast will likely run for most of the day.

As per usual, it’s all expected to be featured on Hitch’s own Twitch stream which we’ve embedded below. A majority of the players and creators will likely be sharing their own perspectives throughout the event as well.
