Classic MW2 AR is Warzone’s “best” mid-range option with rapid TTK

Warzone expert WhosImmortal has highlighted a fan-favorite assault rifle from Modern Warfare 2 that is the “best” option for close to mid-range fights out of the current guns.

Over the last few years, Warzone has become an amalgamation of a few different Call of Duty games. Weapons, equipment, skins, perks, and all sorts of other things have come together under the umbrella of the battle royale.

However, that has also caused a few issues as well – mainly down the line of weapon imbalances. Players have routinely complained that weapons from the previous game – in this case, Modern Warfare 2 – don’t match up against their newer counterparts.

While some may believe that is still the case, even after a few rounds of buffs and nerfs, Warzone guru WhosImmortal disagrees. In fact, he’s even picked out a fan-favorite from MW2 as the best close-to-mid-range gun in the battle royale at the minute.

That’s right, in his February 4 video, WhosImmortal highlighted the Chimera from Modern Warfare as being one of the best assault rifles in the game – especially if you want a sniper support weapon.

“Another weapon I feel like people might be sleeping on some is the Chimera. In terms of rifles for close to mid-range, there really is no better option than this,” the YouTuber said. “This thing has got a ridiculously fast TTK in its first damage range, so it’s more like a sniper support style build, but this honestly is a go-to for sure.”

The only knock on the Chimera is its magazine capacity. The MW2 favorite can only use a 45-round mag and that takes up one of your attachments.

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor
  • Barrel: 8.5’ EXF Vorpal
  • Underbarrel: FTAC SP-10 Angled
  • Optic: Mk.3 Reflector
  • Magazine: 45-round mag

Slipping back into using the Chimera should be easy for any long-time Warzone player, seeing as the AR hasn’t been changed all that much recently.

It may not jump right back into the meta and be as popular as it once was in MW2, but it is worth revisiting because it is more than a nostalgia hit.
