Ahead of Season 20, Respawn Entertainment shared a dev diary showcasing changes galore. It also showed off a brief look at the next Apex Legend.

It’s been five years since Apex Legends took the battle royale genre by storm, blending Titanfall and the titular genre to make something new. It’s been a wild ride since, as nineteen seasons of content have thoroughly changed the game.

Coinciding with the fifth anniversary, Season 20 is on the horizon, and with it comes some of the biggest changes to date, including a performance mode for next-gen console players, a massive Ranked rework, and a revamp to the Legend and armor system.

Respawn Entertainment shared an in-depth look at changes to come in a dev diary, which accidentally included a look at a new Skirmisher.

Apex Legends Season 20 dev diary shares look at new Skirmisher

In the latest dev diary, Apex Legends: Breakout, many critical members of Respawn share insights of what’s to come in Season 20.

When speaking on the new Straight Shot mode, a sped-up form of the traditional battle royale mode, the Legend selection screen flashes a look at an extra icon among the Skirmisher class.

Many of the eagle-eyed viewers who caught the sneak peek were excited, especially with the character’s design. “Why’s it look like an evil Valkyrie,” one replied eerily noting the similarities between both Skirmishers.

Season 20 won’t launch with a new Legend, meaning it’ll be some time before we have any indicator of who this character could be. That said, recent leaks point to it possibly being “Cave” a Legend with a wall-portal ability, with this ability a popular talking point for quite some time.

If true, it could lead to some interesting strategies and techniques as players find ways to outplay each other, or even break the game itself with out-of-bounds plays.

Again, it’ll be some time before any information comes out, but at least this sneak peek will be enough to keep Apex Legends fans glued to the future of the title.
