Parasyte: The Grey, a new Korean live-action series based on the dark fantasy manga, has just revealed its release date on Netflix.

Parasyte was originally released in 1989, becoming one of the most popular series of all time.

Fans familiar with the franchise will know it’s not the first time it’s been adapted for live-action. A two-part Japanese live-action film series distributed by Toho was released in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Now, after its live-action One Piece series changed the perception of manga adaptations, Netflix is expanding its horizons with its own take on the material.

When will Parasyte: The Grey arrive on Netflix?

Parasyte: The Grey will be released on Netflix on April 5, 2024. Unlike the source material, the upcoming series will feature a new setting. While the original series takes place in Japan, Parasyte: The Grey is set in Korea. Secondly, the lead character, Shinichi, will be replaced by Jeong Su-in in the K-drama.

The premise of the Netflix show revolves around a girl named Jeong Su-in, who falls prey to a parasite that tries to steal her brain. Even though it couldn’t enter her brain, it somehow managed to take over a part of her body, ending up co-existing with her. The majority of the population has been invaded by parasitic aliens, and the entire human population is on the verge of extinction. So, Jeong Su-in must discover the truth about these species and take a stand for humankind.

The streaming platform has also disclosed that the project will also involve the famous South Korean actors Kim In-kwon and Kwon Hae-hyo. However, nothing has been revealed about the characters that they will be seen as. Moreover, at the time of writing this article, we only have the release date information of the series, but we can expect to learn more details about it as it inches toward the premiere date.
