Twitch streamer and content creator Wilbur Soot has released a statement after being accused of abuse, following a series of comments made by an ex-girlfriend during a Twitch stream left him implicated in the situation.

On February 24, Shubble — an ex-partner of Wilbur — went live on Twitch and spoke about how her ex-boyfriend, who she did not identify, would bite her and leave bruises, sometimes even poking the bruises for fun, despite her pleas with him not to.

“He would even joke that it looked like he abused me,” she added. “And eventually he did acknowledge how bad it looked that I was covered in bruises all the time, so he stopped biting my arms as often and he started biting my legs instead.”

She went on to admit that for some time, she didn’t really realize what was happening and it took a while for it to dawn on her that the individual had abused her.

While Wilbur wasn’t explicitly mentioned, many fans knew of their relationship, and mentioned that he is a “biter,” having seen him bite others in the past and with other streamers mentioning it too.

On February 27, a few days later, the streamer finally responded as his name was frequently coming up alongside the story. He said:

“In the past week a series of allegations have been made over my conduct from an ex-girlfriend. I want to emphasize that, although I feel it fair to offer my perspective, this person’s feelings are completely valid. I have taken my time sharing this statement as I wanted to process and respond respectfully and with the hope to gain a deeper understanding for the situation.

“During our relationship’s final months, I regrettably became slobbish, disrespectful, and selfish. These actions caused a lot of pain to my ex-girlfriend and I’ve since sought therapy to address these behaviours, making significant lifestyle changes to rectify my past actions. I have come to realise how much my past behaviour hurt this person, but I truly, compassionately believe I have made great strides from the person I once was and hope I can continue to grow and improve on this trajectory.”

On the biting, he said:

“The allegation of abuse, particularly in the form of biting, deeply shocked me. Throughout our relationship, I understood from our numerous conversations and text message exchanges on the subject, that this behaviour was consensual, playful and reciprocally enjoyed.

“I truly believe those personal message exchanges reflect mutual affection and understanding. Out of respect for her, I choose not to publish them and I emphasise my perspective is not shared to diminish or invalidate anyone’s feelings. Instead I share it in the hope that I can offer a genuine, fair and relevant insight into my understanding of the situation.

“While I may perceive our interactions differently, I recognise that this person has processed and expressed feelings of hurt. I want to extend my sincerest apologies for any pain that I caused.”

He finished the statement by adding that he is “fully committed to understanding and addressing her concerns going forward.”

Ex-girlfriend responds to Wilbur Soot’s answer to abuse claims

Shubble has since responded to Wilbur’s statement in two posts on Twitter/X, where she thanked her friends for their support and revealed she would be taking a break from social media.

“I could not have imagined what I would wake up to today,” she wrote. “My ex pretending he thought I enjoyed being hurt… and all of my friends immediately coming to my defense. The support has brought me to tears, I don’t even know what to say. I’ll be back, I’ll just be taking a little time.”

She also claimed that she does not accept Soot’s apology, making it clear that she does not agree with his version of events.

Thus far, Soot has not offered any further comment on the situation, and based on comments, public opinion seems to be firmly on Shubble’s side.
