The unofficial PlayStation 5 streaming app Chiaki4Deck has received a brand-new update, making the Steam Deck the ideal way to play PS5 games remotely.

Having your entire Steam library at your fingertips is just one of the many reasons why the Steam Deck is one of the best gaming handhelds out there. The device isn’t just ideal for playing Steam games, however, but thanks to the unofficial app, Chiaki4Deck, it’s also capable of playing PlayStation 5 games on the go.

Similarly to the PlayStation Portal, but with simple tinkering involved, your Steam Deck can stream your PS5 while you’re tucked up in the comfort of bed, or while your roommate is taking up all that precious TV time and you desperately need to tally up some trophies.

Now, chiaki4deck has become an even better app experience for Steam Deck OLED users, thanks this newly available update.

The brand new Chiaki4Deck v1.6.0 update brings a slew of improvements to the remote streaming app. Among these is the inclusion of a new touch-friendly and semi-controller graphical user interface, making the app more easy to navigate.

According to the release notes, the update also enables MacOS and Windows libplacebo renderer support, and the well warranted ability to resume connection from sleep mode. Just as you can resume your suspended Steam games, this update means you can get right back into the action of titles like Spider-Man 2, after the Steam Deck has entered sleep mode.

Among these improvements, is the new ability to log into PlayStation for account ID via the UI, a Senkusha fix that lowers time for console connection, an audio switch to SDL, and lastly a new logo and Qt6 support.

This brand-new update comes just a month after Chiaki4Deck enabled HDR streaming for Steam Deck OLED owners. This update alone was enough to give the Valve handheld a one-up over the PlayStation Portal, which doesn’t have a dedicated screen to allow for high dynamic range quality streaming.

The brand-new Chiaki4Deck update is currently available to download for all Steam Deck owners, with the full release notes available on the Chiaki4Deck github page.
