Manchester United star Marcus Rashford answered his critics in style with a sensational goal in the Manchester derby against Man City.

With just seven minutes on the clock at the Etihad Stadium, Rashford stunned the home fans into silence with an absolute peach of a strike from 25 yards out.

The ball cannoned off the underside of Ederson’s crossbar and into the back of the net to send the Manchester United away end into raptures after taking a shock lead against their local rivals.

Neville hails Rashford response

Earlier this week, Rashford hit back at claims he “doesn’t care” about Manchester United anymore in a fiery interview with the Players’ Tribune.

And United legend Neville, who is in the commentary box for Sky Sports’ coverage of the derby clash, hailed Rashford for backing up those words on the pitch.

“He said in the week if you back me good, if you doubt me better,” Neville said. “But that is the best way to answer everybody. Smash one into the top of the net from 25 yards.

“Absolutely incredible. Ake drops back in and it allows Bruno Fernandes to get in behind Dias. But you just do not think, it is a one in 20, one in 30 chance Rashford is going to beat Ederson from there.

“It is a beauty from Manchester United’s number 10. This is special.”
