Overwatch 2 player hits game breaking bug that makes enemy completely invisible

A bug in Overwatch 2 had a Sojourn player losing their sanity as almost the entire enemy team became invisible.

Overwatch 2 is a chaotic game at certain times. While it was worse during the 6v6 era, even in its current form, it can still get visually cluttered to the point where it can be hard to tell what’s going on.

This is due to the game’s bright and active super-human abilities that each of its heroes sports. Generally, the game is easy enough to parse, but you wait until you get a Ramattra, Zenyatta, Symmetra, Baptiste, and Mauga all ultimating at the same time. It can become a lot.

However, one player ran into a bug that went much too far the other way. In fact, they could only see one player on the other team causing them to ultimately lose the game.

Invisible opponents in Overwatch 2 are pretty hard to overcome

In a Reddit post by Takimura_, which has garnered over 1.2k upvotes, a video shows the unfortunate player running around Rialto dying to phantom Winstons and Zanyattas.

Indeed, it seems the only character the player can see is Genji, despite them being dove on by Winton constantly.

The player wasn’t sure if this was some kind of cheat by the other team, but most other commenters in the thread seem to think this was a server bug. One said: “It’s 100% a bug, my mate and I used to get it a bunch a couple of seasons ago on console.”

Another added: “I’ve had this happen. I’ve also had my character model not appear on my screen. This was on console so very unlikely to be a cheat. Probably a server issue.”

While it is funny to see this player become slowly more paranoid as they play trying to find any of their invisible opponents, obviously if this happens with any regularity, it could be game-breaking. Towards the start of Overwatch 2, this was relatively common, but enemies were floating balls of light. However, this appears to be something new as the enemies are completely invisible here.

Hopefully, the root of this issue can be found so it doesn’t affect too many games in the future.
