Monster Hunter Now players are slamming Niantic for the recent Hunt-a-thon changes in the v69.0 update, haling it as the “worst update ever.”

The Monster Hunter Now v69.0 update is now live, bringing with it changes to the game’s Lance, Paintballs, and referral codes.

However, it’s the recent changes to Hunt-a-thons that has players angry, especially those who play solo and live in areas with no nearby Hunters.

While Hunt-a-thons have always been a controversial talking point amongst the Monster Hunter Now community, it seems the v69.0 update has made things worse.

Following the Monster Hunter Now v69.0 Hunt-a-thon update, after transitioning to the lobby for the second monster and beyond, there is now a brief period where players can wait for other hunters.

This change was implemented to help prevent players from accidentally starting the hunt prematurely. However, the game’s community believes this change has only made it worse for solo players.

“This is the worst update I’ve ever seen,” said one player. “Why would they force us to wait to start a hunt…. They’re actively wasting 25 seconds of each huntathon for no reason. They say it’s so you don’t accidentally start the hunt… so??? Thats their own fault????? I play solo, I have no one to play with, so now I have to waste time sitting watching my screen instead of just spamming start hunt.”

Many solo Hunters feel like the timer update on Hunt-a-thons should be contextual, and not appear when playing solo. After all, having to wait when there are no players nearby is always going to prove frustrating.

“It’s like Niantic is trolling us. They could’ve mapped the button where you wouldn’t mindlessly tap by mistake, or just add a confirmation button,” explained one frustrated player.

“A lot of the issues of this game is that they map the buttons for easy access and people are gonna mindlessly tap because this game is a f*cking tapping game. Problems can easily be solved with better UI so people don’t tap and make mistakes like upgrading equipment when they just wanna equip it.”
