League players “crushed” by underwhelming Blue Essence Emporium

As any long-time League player would know, Blue Essence really piles up once you’ve got all the champions unlocked. Other than rune pages, name changes, and a few other small options, there’s not much you can use all that BE for.
The Blue Essence Emporium was built to reward players who have been hoarding that currency for years, giving them meaningful rewards that they can purchase. However, the Emporium went on hiatus up until recently, with Riot promising some big improvements.
While some stuff around the Emporium has been improved, the content on offer within the shop itself has left players wanting more and feeling betrayed after its return was hyped up by Riot.

Riot GamesDespite all the microtransactions offered over the years in League of Legends, they haven’t introduced any pay-to-win mechanics. In fact, it could be argued they’ve since removed what could be viewed as pay-to-win when the old-school rune pages and masteries were reworked.
All that said, players still want to feel rewarded for committing years of their lives to the game and get some satisfying rewards they don’t have to pay for. In the wake of the controversy surrounding Jhin’s “$200” Cosmic Erasure skin, players wanted something good now more than ever.
The Blue Essence Emporium was supposed to be a thank-you letter from Riot to their most dedicated players, but many feel like the store has come up short and offers even less than it did before the Emporium’s hiatus.
Players pointed out that mystery icon and ward skin chests were gone, and that many limited-edition chromas were missing. Additionally, many players were having a hard time accessing the Emporium at all when it launched.
On top of that, some took note of the fact that you can’t get Mythic Essence either, a currency that’s fairly rare and requires players to either earn it from hours of grinding limited-time events or buying certain items with paid currency.
Many lamented the new Blue Essence Emporium is missing staples from the older version without exciting new items to entice them to drop their BE on something.
“Super let down. Don’t understand why they removed the mystery icon and ward options…” said one redditor. Another agreed, saying “I’m crushed. I’ve been waiting to blow all of me BE on ward skins again.”
Players didn’t seem mad at Riot as much as they seemed disappointed, sad that there wasn’t a way for them to use all the currency they’ve hoarded from years of dedication.
“As someone who bought all chromas I needed last emporium, having saved 345k BE for this one, this a a extremely bad feeling for myself to be honest. I was waiting for it for so long. What a bummer…” lamented one redditor.
With the Blue Essence Emporium out of its hiatus and coming around twice a year from here on out, it remains to be seen if Riot makes any changes to what’s on offer for players to purchase.
