Diablo 4 players are fed up with loot in Season 3, dubbing it ‘boring’ and ‘tedious’. Instead, they’re asking for more creativity from the devs and better itemization for loot all ’round.

The latest season of Diablo 4, Season of the Construct, has seen its fair share of detractors since it went live. There have been multiple bugs with bosses, complaints about the Seneschal, and disappointment with the new Vault mechanic too.

And although Blizzard does seem to try to address players’ concerns with each new patch, not every problem can be solved with a quick hotfix.

The latest gripe from players is a lot bigger mechanically than a bug with a boss or tweaking the stats on a companion. It’s the loot.

Blizzard addressed player complaints about the Seneschal Companion in a recent patch.

“I was going through my inventory full of rares and legendaries, and just started to fall asleep,” one player said in his thread on Reddit regarding loot. It went on to generate a large amount of discussion with many other players echoing his sentiment.

“The loot is tedious and boring. There’s zero joy items dropping in D4.  There’s so much of it there’s nothing to be excited about.” One user agreed.

Blizzard has increased the loot drops in dungeons recently but for some of the player base, the quantity isn’t the problem. It’s the quality of the drops. Many users drew comparisons with other ARPGs and some even pointed out Diablo 2’s innovative loot design was such a big draw for the game, players are still playing today.

“We play the game for yellow loot,” another said, listing aspects they didn’t enjoy; the fact legendary items “are just crafting fodder.”  And that most of the loot was simply stat-focused, claiming, “Not enough of the loot alters how you play.”

Despite Blizzard upping the amount of loot dropped from dungeons, players still aren’t satisfied.

“Everyone is drooling over D4’s shako yet it’s one of [the] most boring items in the game,” said another. “Bunch of skills and damage reduction, how creative.”

If Blizzard intends to address this particular player issue is anyone’s guess. But it’s definitely becoming a talking point.
