A Pokemon Scarlet & Violet trainer devised a strategy to destroy 7-Star Tera Blastoise using Generation 1’s weakest Pokemon, Magikarp.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are celebrating the original release of Red & Green in Japan through a series of Gen 1 Tera Raid battles.

With Venusaur’s Raid Battle come and gone, trainers can now take on 7-Star Tera Blastoise in Raids until Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 4:59 PM PST.

7-Star Tera Blastoise features the defensive Steel Tera Type, but that didn’t stop one devious trainer from taking down this absolute tank in one hit using Generation 1’s weakest Pokemon: Magikarp.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet trainer OHKO’s Tera Blastoise with Magikarp

The insane play comes by way of the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet subreddit from a user named Nommable123, who has a history of taking out 7-Star bosses with the weak Water-type monster.

The trainer laid out their strategy in the comments section below the clip. To achieve this impressive feat they used a team consisting of Toxtricity, Polteageist, Alolan Golem, and Magikarp.

To begin, the Toxtricity and Polteageist used the moves Eerie Impulse and Skill Swap before Blastoise put up its protective shield.

Next, Alolan Golem set up Sunny Day to weaken Blastoise’s Water moves while Polteageist used Light Screen to aid in the team’s Defense.

To get ready for Magikarp’s upcoming OHKO, Toxtricity used Swagger on Magikarp three times, while it used Flail on its teammates to build Tera Charge.

Polteageist then Skill Swapped Alolan Golem and Magikarp so that Magikarp has the Galvanize Ability. Alolan Golem then used Electric Terrain to boost Magikarp’s Flail.

The team sets up a variety of different buffs to ensure Magikarp deals enough damage, such as flinging a Lansat Berry at the fish, as well as using Trick Room, Helping Hand, and Attack Cheers.

With all these buffs present, the team reduces Magikarp’s HP low enough to get Flail in max damage range. Afterward, Magikarp Terastailizes into a Normal-type and knocks out 7-Star Blastoise using Flail in one hit.

It takes some serious effort and planning to ensure a Magikarp can one-hit KO a 7-Star Tera Raid boss—let alone a Steel-type Blastoise. It just goes to show that this trainer really knows their Pokemon strats.
