A woman in NYC has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a subway performer with a metal water bottle while he was playing the cello.

In mid-February 2024, Cellist Iain Forrest was playing his electric cello in a New York City when he was attacked by a random person with a metal water bottle he had sitting on the ground behind him.

Forrest posted a video of the incident on Instagram, revealing that this was the second time he had been attacked in the last year and made the decision to halt performances for the time being.

Just days later, Fox5 New York updated readers on the incident and revealed the alleged attacker had been found.

In the report, Fox5NY says that the 23-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault. However, there is still no word as to why she allegedly attacked the cellist.

Forrest was performing by the tracks of a Manhattan subway when the incident occurred while he was playing his electric cello.

In a statement to Fox 5, he said that he felt a terrible pain in the back of his head and people around him appeared horrified.

“I just felt terrible pain in the back of my head. I was out of it, and when I saw my metal water bottle rolling around on the ground, and saw my fans who were watching the performance, their faces were absolutely horrified, then I put it together,” Forrest said.

“I was terrified to share it with my fans too and subject other people, but I thought it was important to show people what happens to musicians who perform in the subway. This actually happens a lot.”
