MrBeast, Markiplier and more top YouTubers honor MatPat's YouTube career after retirement

YouTube has brought together popular creators including MrBeast, Markiplier, and JackSepticEye to pay tribute to MatPat following his retirement.

After 15 years of running numerous ‘theory’ channels, MatPat shook the internet by announcing his retirement from YouTube in January.

The Game Theory founder claimed his retirement was long “overdue” in the content creation space, sharing with Dexerto his plans for the future and upcoming creative endeavors.

Now, the online video-sharing and social media platform is honoring MatPat’s legacy by teaming up with its top creators for a tribute to the YouTuber’s career.

Posted on YouTube’s official channel, the video pays a “heartfelt farewell” to MatPat as he embarks on a new chapter.

“As we say goodbye to the King of Theories, we honor the friendships forged and the inspiration shared,” the description reads. “Thank you, MatPat. Your legacy will continue to inspire, entertain, and educate for generations to come!”

Proving MatPat’s impact on the YouTube community was immense, 30 fellow content creators teamed up with the platform for its tribute. Included were some of YouTube’s biggest names; MrBeast, Markiplier, JackSepticEye, MoistCr1TiKal, and many more.

“Your channel, it’s impressive. You’ve done weekly [uploads] for almost 10 years, I don’t know how you did it, man,” MrBeast said. MoistCr1TiKal called MatPat’s YouTube legacy an “unbelievable one for the books,” with many creators claiming their own channels would have never succeeded without MatPat’s help.

MatPat’s wife, Stephanie Patrick, also joined the tribute alongside the couple’s son, Ollie. She expressed how proud she was of every milestone Game Theory passed, assuring fans that “the best is yet to come.”

“MatPat, enjoy retirement. You’ve earned it,” the video concluded, before signing off with all creators chiming in using MatPat’s iconic catchphrase; “But hey, that’s just a theory — a game theory.”
