WoW dev makes feelings on pineapple pizza clear with unique in-game item
Pineapple pizza seems to be a uniquely contentious food. It appears as though World of Warcraft is no exception, as a unique in-game item makes the developer’s feelings on the matter abundantly clear.
Bringing up pineapple pizza seems to be a bit of a no-no in polite conversation these days. Many consider it a near-blasphemous topping, whereas others remain strong proponents of how delicious it is.
The debate has become so fierce that many extremely well-known figures have weighed in on the issue. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay posted on Twitter/X, simply saying, “Pineapple does not go on top of pizza.” On the opposite end of the scale is Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who said, “I stand behind this delicious Southwestern Ontario creation. #TeamPineapple.”
Now, it seems the debate has extended to the world’s biggest MMO, and they have made their feelings abundantly clear.
WoW devs hate pineapple pizza… a lot
In a post on Reddit, one user shared their own hilarious discovery, in which they had found Pineapple Pizza in-game. So far, so innocent. Unfortunately, this pizza is one of the only foods in the game that has a negative effect on the player.
Individuals silly enough to eat it get no extra health and a 5% stamina debuff lasting 30 seconds. Additionally, the item contains the flavor text “just terrible,” leaving the developers’ opinions on the matter clear.
Many quickly waded into the debate with varying opinions. One said: “Just pineapple pizza is terrible. Pineapple on pizza is great when paired with other toppings, like red peppers, pepperoni and ham.”
Another said: “Nah, no one likes pineapple on pizza and everyone who says they do is just trolling, this is a well known fact… I see right through your lies!”
Representing the game’s Italian contingent, another added: “I hereby stand here, as a representative of the Italian people, to say pineapple of pizza is a crime against nature, the nation and god. My daily duty as an Italian citizen is done…”
Whatever items are added into WoW, the pineapple pizza debate is likely to rage on. If the comments are anything to go by, everyone’s opinion on the matter remains remarkably strong.
