Valorant players are calling for a long-overdue change to Agent role descriptions to hopefully put a stop to toxic duelist teammates.

Valorant launched with just 10 Agents in 2020, but, close to four years since the game’s release, there have been a ton of additions to the first-person shooter.

Now, there are a staggering 23 Agents for players to pick from, all of which fit into four different classes, Duelist, Initiator, Sentinel, and Controller.

Nevertheless, the community is now calling on the devs for a long-overdue update to the class descriptions, hoping it’ll stop toxic Duelists in-game.

Valorant players want simple change to stop toxic Duelists

Duelists have been the most popular choice for Valorant players due to the combat-focused nature of their role — that being to frag out and get kills. However, in a Reddit post on February 19, one player kicked off a discussion and called for an update to the role descriptions.

“Duelist description should be changed,” they wrote. “Every player in Valorant goes in with this false assumption that ‘duelists get the kills, and should always be top frag’.

“But if you read the description the reason is simple: the description basically outright SAYS it.”

They added: “I think this is a bad description for Duelist. It quite literally says the role is intended to be the leaderboard role – which I think is just inaccurate, and leads to a lot of toxicity.”

In the replies to the thread, many were on board with the idea as a whole. But, according to some, a change like this wouldn’t put a stop to toxicity around the Duelist role.

“This would not fix toxicity towards/from Duelists, obviously. Not even close. And it is relatively small,” one wrote. “However it would remove a direct, ingame source that creates and reinforces a toxic mindset.”

They added: “It would be a step in the right direction, and it may prevent new players from coming to wrong conclusions about how Duelists are played and their role on a team.”

Others believe that the change may make it easier for players to try out different roles instead of sticking to just playing Duelist. “But it would also make it easier for people to try out more roles and not just insta lock duelist, especially if that’s a play style you’re forcing yourself into to fast track your advancement,” they said.

With that said, we’ll just have to wait and see if Riot devs take the idea on board and implement the change in a future update.
