Twitch star Jaryd ‘Summit1g‘ Lazar explained how Riot Games’ upcoming first-person shooter Project A will be a direct competitor to Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Project A was unveiled during Riot Games’ 10-year anniversary livestream and it’s Riot’s take on the FPS genre.
Based on what we’ve seen so far, it looks like a blend between Overwatch and CSGO which are two of the most popular games on the market right now, so it’ll definitely be getting a healthy playerbase at launch.
Riot took the hero-based formula of Overwatch (and League of Legends) and the smooth gunplay found in CSGO and the result of that is Project A. Obviously, there will be a bit more than that but that’s the basic idea for now and it has people buzzing.
You can count Summit in on one of those players who are looking forward to the release of Project A as he’s always on the lookout for more shooter games.
Of course, Summit is a former Counter-Strike pro so this type of game would have caught his eye no matter what, but considering the developer behind the game, it’s even more appealing to him.
The popular streamer reacted to the new game, while wearing an Overwatch shirt no less, and was genuinely excited it would be competing with CSGO.
He analyzed the announcement and pointed out many of the ways Project A takes inspiration from CS:GO, which includes what appeared to be an economy system and even a knife animation that looks like a direct copy.
“Bro, these guys wanna directly, directly, compete against CS 100%,” he said. “Oh, so f*cking cool, 100%.”

Counterstrike has long been the dominant competitive FPS on the market and its esports scene is still practically unrivaled.
- Read More: League of Legends has achieved worldwide dominance, but whether they are able to crossover into other genres remains to be seen, but fans are excited nonetheless.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the upcoming Project A, including a name, so be on the lookout for that going forward.
Summit is far from the only one who has shared an opinion on the title as Dr Disrespect and xQc have both had some thoughts.
Both players are well-known in the FPS community, and xQc used it as a chance to take a shot at Overwatch.
We’re still a while out from the release of Project A, so it’ll be interesting to see how CSGO and Overwatch will respond to a new competitor.
