While Reacher Season 2 is nearing its end, lead actor Alan Ritchson has already teased fans that they are well underway with Season 3 in a new photo.

Reacher Season 2 continued to adapt Lee Child’s popular books with Ritchson returning as Jack Reacher. The new season has been a success so far, as the actor revealed before its initial release that Amazon Prime Video had renewed it for a third season.

Details about the next season are scarce with viewers unsure of what book it will be based on. Fans can speculate that Reacher will once again take up his nomad lifestyle and venture to another part of the country. Of course, he will find himself in some trouble that he can’t avoid.

With Reacher Season 3 already confirmed, Ritchson took it upon himself to affirm to fans they’re hard at work.

Jack Reacher will be back for Reacher Season 3

Before the final episodes of Season 2, Alan Ritchson shared a photo on his Instagram letting fans know that they were back on set filming Season 3.

In his post, he’s seen covered head-to-toe with dried mud. He captioned the post, “Welp… we’re back. Season 3 of Reacher… crustier than ever.”

Sadly, his post gave away no real details of what can be expected for the new season. It’s not out of the ordinary that the former ex-military investigator is covered in mud. It’s a nice change compared to the blood and wounds in Season 2. But it’s clear as day that Ritchson’s character couldn’t stay a nomad wolf for too long.

Under the post, a fan commented on what the mud could mean and possibly what book Season 3 will focus on.

“Calling it now: this is Alan filming the scene in “Die Trying” where he’s crawling under the ground and trying not to give into his claustrophobic fears. I bet they’re doing that book for season 3!!” said the fan.

The Lee Child book is the second novel in the series. Reacher gets kidnapped in Chicago while helping a young woman. Becoming involved with the woman leads him to keeping bad company.

According to Cinemablend, Ritchson teased, “Have we announced it yet? How much you got? I wish I could. It’s one of my favorite books. One of my favorite books. This is like on every Top 10 list. This is going to make people very happy, this book.”

A general consensus among fans is that Reacher Season 3 could adapt “Worth Dying For” where Reacher takes matters into his own hands when a drunk doctor refuses to help a victim of abuse. It just so happens the woman’s husband is a powerful man. “One Shot” is also on the list as someone from Reacher’s past is being framed for a mass shooting they didn’t commit.
