Mean Girls star makes surprise appearance during Reneé Rapp’s SNL performance

The new reboot of the Mean Girls has opened to pretty mixed reviews as most fans didn’t think the 2004 needed an updated version but, for the most part, many fans think the film is pretty fetch.
Mean Girls stars Mare of Easttown’s Angourie Rice as Cady Heron and upcoming pop star Reneé Rapp as Regina George, who acted as the musical guest for Saturday Night Live this weekend.
And SNL played home to a bit of a Mean Girls crossover as Rachel McAdams, who played Regina in the original film, came to surprise Rapp during her performance.
McAdams stops by SNL to introduce her successor
As part of the Mean Girls press cycle, Rapp, who has been performing music since 2018, performed on Saturday Night Live.
One of the songs Rapp sung was the main title track for the new Mean Girls film titled “Not My Fault,” which was a collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion.
Though Jacob Elordi was hosting and traditionally the host introduces the musical guest, SNL viewers were surprised by McAdams, who came by to introduce her Regina George successor.
The surprises didn’t stop coming as Megan Thee Stallion popped out of the giant pink cake on stage during her collab song with Rapp.
After the performance, Megan Thee Stallion posted a picture of herself, Rapp, and McAdams doing the famous Spider-Man pointing meme as the rapper considers herself to be “the Black Regina George.”
McAdams’ appearing on SNL is quite a big deal as she famously declined to reunite with her Mean Girls co-stars (Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert) for a recent Walmart advertisement.
During an interview with Variety, McAdams explained why she turned down the commercial opportunity stating, “I don’t know; I guess I wasn’t that excited about doing a commercial if I’m being totally honest. A movie sounded awesome, but I’ve never done commercials, and it just didn’t feel like my bag. Also… I didn’t know that everyone was doing it.”
Though she didn’t want to be part of the Walmart commercial with her co-stars, McAdams did state that she would love to be “a part of a Mean Girls reunion and hang with my plastics.”
