Tekken 8 pros call out Jun Kazama for being “broken” & demand nerfs

Tekken 8 Jun Kazama busted

In the days since Tekken 8’s launch, players have been able to figure out which characters are stronger than the rest. And, while no one’s at the level of release Leroy or Fakhumram in Tekken 7, Jun Kazama stands out as a clear frontrunner that deserves some nerfs.

Jun Kazama has been an important character to the Tekken series for a long time, even if she’s only been playable in a few entries. Her Tekken 8 redesign and new moveset had a lot of old-school fans excited to see where the series would take the character.

There was a great deal of hype around her reveal and reimagining in Tekken 8, but that anticipation has been quickly soured by just how strong this character is. She’s been at the top of our tierlist from day 1.

A mix of easy, safe launchers, strong poke, a very fast long-range Heat Smash, strong wall carry, and a number of other elements have even Tekken legend Knee calling her “broken”.

Jun Kazama has Tekken 8 players fuming

When a fighting game first releases, it’s bound to have some characters that really stand out from the crowd. And, while Tekken is known for being generally well balanced in recent times, Tekken 7 was refined for almost a decade whereas Tekken 8 is a fresh game.

And, while none of the characters in Tekken 8 are game-breakingly good, there are a few that get pretty close. Dragunov and King have been causing frustration as players begin to learn their strengths, but Jun is widely accepted as the most busted of them all.

She just does everything well.

Knee’s word isn’t law when it comes to Tekken, but it’s about as close as it gets. He wouldn’t call a character broken lightly.

And, while the reasons he listed explain themselves for the most part, her recovery has to be seen to be believed.

Though having some form of health recovery in her kit makes sense considering some of her moves cost health, she recovers a ridiculous amount of health with only a few moves. Not to mention, characters who can fully remove gray health are few and far between.

One of the biggest complaints is that she can launch opponents off the ground if they try to wake up, forcing them to either stay on the ground and try to wake up after taking damage or get caught in an even worse combo. It’s a lose/lose situation for the player.

Super Akouma’s been particularly vocal about her, with him replying to those telling him to stop exposing that their main is busted with little mercy.

It remains to be seen if Jun dominates at tournaments once Tekken 8’s Tekken World Tour starts up, but, for now, she seems to be the frontrunner for being the best character in the game.
