This PC’s Evangelion-inspired “launch button” is genius & we’re obsessed

A Reddit user has shown off an Evangelion-themed launch button to boot up their gaming PC, and the idea is brilliant.

PC gaming fans are always finding unique ways to enhance their setups. Whether it’s creating some of the best-looking custom PC builds, or simply adding a multitude of RGB lights, there’s a never-ending list of possibilities.

One Reddit user has even opted to enhance the very method in which they turn on their gaming PC. Reddit user StewTheDude posted a video online revealing their gaming PC booting up at the touch of a literal anime-themed button.

“13-year-old me would be impressed”

Within the footage posted as a video to r/PCMasterRace, Reddit user StewTheDuder can be seen picking up the Evangelion-themed button and flicking open the top cover.

While pressing the button, and showing their gaming PC booting up almost simultaneously, StewTheDude can be heard stating “All I know is, 13-year-old me would be impressed.”

The Evangelion-themed launch button was purchased from Newegg. Though it doesn’t appear to be an officially licensed product, like the Asus ROG EVA 02 gaming PC, the Corn Electronics button nevertheless makes for an exciting way to kickstart your gaming PC.

According to StewTheDuder, setting up the wireless launch button was “simple”. By utilizing a tiny PCIe card that’s plugged into one of the bottom slots of their PC, and some tinkering that even Gendo would be proud of, they were able to get the button set up.

The launch button works wirelessly and features a USB-C port on the side, likely indicating it will need to be charged over time.

It appears the Reddit user didn’t use the accompanying stickers that came with the Evangelion launch button. Nevertheless, taking the monotonous way to turn on your PC and making it feel straight out of a classic 90s anime is utterly genius.
