Google Pixel 8a’s retail box has made an appearance online, confirming previous rumors about its Pixel 8-esque design.

Google is good at many things, but preventing its phones from leaking online isn’t one of them. Earlier today, a leak gave us the first look at what could be the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro. Just as we began to come to terms with its surprising redesign, a new leak has surfaced, revealing the retail box image of the Pixel 8a.

The Pixel 8a’s retail box confirms rumors of a Pixel 8 Pro-like design with round edges. Google usually launches the A series phones during its developer conference in May, and we’d expect the Pixel 8a to launch during the same event later this year.

Pixel 8a is Google’s next budget phone

The image of the Pixel 8a’s retail box was shared by X user @chunnvn8888, who says the image originally appeared on a Vietnamese Facebook group. The flattened retail box looks legit. The artwork shows the Google Pixel 8a on the front with “Pixel 8a” branding.

As we mentioned, the smartphone appears similar to the Pixel 8 Pro with round edges and corners. The packaging is similar to the current Pixel phones, revealing that the upcoming mid-ranger will launch in black. Previous leaks have also shown the smartphone in a blue color option.

The retail box reveals that the phone uses a USB-PD power adapter with a power output of up to 27W. While this may sound exciting, considering the Pixel 7a only supports 18W charging, it is likely just the recommended adapter power, and not the charging speed.

Other specifications of the Pixel 8a are still anyone’s guess at the moment. Rumors suggest it will be powered by the Tensor G3 chip, the same processor that drives the Pixel 8 Pro. The Google Pixel 8a could also have a slightly larger display, measuring 6.1-inches.
