Meta Quest 3 takes on Apple Vision Pro with Spatial Video support

Meta’s popular Quest VR headsets are set to take on the Apple Vision Pro with Spatial Video support just days after release.

February 2, 2024, marks the full release of the long-awaited Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset and customers are excited to receive their $3,500 device.

One of its major selling points is support for Spatial Video, which can be recorded on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max devices launched in September 2023.

Meta is taking on the Vision Pro in their next update for the latest Meta Quest headsets set to roll out just days after Apple’s launch.

Meta reveals Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest Pro Spatial Video support

Revealed on its website, Meta Quest software version 62 reveals a handful of updates and improvements coming to the popular headsets.

The star of this update is the addition of a new Spatial Video Gallery, which will give iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max users the ability to view their recordings through a compatible Quest headset.

For those who want to check it out but don’t have a capable phone, Meta will include sample videos to check out.

Meta is including a handful of other improvements with this update as well, including better gamepad support in the browser, multiple space support, and updates to Quest Link.

For YouTube streamers that broadcast VR, Meta has also included a native way to keep an eye on chat while live — something that previously required an extra add-on setup to do so.

The update will be available on the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and the Meta Quest Pro sometime during the week of February 7, 2024.
