iPhone 16 render shows off suspiciously familiar design
AppleThe iPhone 16 might feature a new design that looks strikingly similar to the iPhone 12, albeit with a redesigned camera module.
The vanilla iPhone hasn’t gone through many design changes since the iPhone 11. Yes, Apple polished the look, introduced new colorways, and changed the alignment of cameras but the core design remained the same. This might change with the iPhone 16.
Leaked renders suggest that Apple is considering ditching the current design for a new and seemingly less exciting look. The iPhone 15’s diagonal camera arrangement may be replaced with a design reminiscent of the iPhone 12.
The design renders have been shared by Apple Hub on X. The source has created these renders based on existing leaks and rumors. The color options shown in the renders belong to the iPhone 15.
The iPhone 16 render shows a vertical camera alignment similar to the iPhone 12. Whether this new design looks good or bad is something you decide. However, we do think it’s fairly boring and less impressive than what we have with the iPhone 15.
Leaker Majin Bu also shared schematics last Sunday that bear a striking resemblance to the Apple Hub design renders. It’s important to note that Apple has not confirmed any of this information, and confirmation is not expected until September 2024.
Other design changes on iPhone 16 could include a new “Capture Button”. We’re not sure what it does exactly, but the name hints at a camera shutter function. The dynamic island seen on iPhone 15 may also be present.
iPhone 16 may not be a huge upgrade
The design may not be the only boring aspect of the iPhone 16. Reports suggest that the rest of its specifications could be equally mediocre. The display size of the phone may remain the same as the iPhone 15, and it might continue using a 60Hz panel.
The smartphone is also likely to retain the same 48MP + 12MP camera setup as the iPhone 15. Elsewhere, the iPhone 16 could be powered by an A17 chip, not the A17 Pro found in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This chipset is based on an inferior N3E process.
