Harry Kane “barely involved” as fans make same point about Bayern woes

Bayern Munich’s woes went from bad to worse on Wednesday, after they were beaten 1-0 by Lazio in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League clash.

A 69th minute penalty from Ciro Immobile was enough to separate the two sides as Lazio, who currently sit in seventh place in the Italian Serie A league table, condemned Bayern to a second defeat in five days.

It was the first time in 12 years they lost the first leg of a Champions League tie and they are also in danger of losing the Bundesliga title for the first time in 12 years.

The German champions were soundly beaten 3-0 by title rivals Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, as they fell five points behind them in the league table.

CBS Sports analyst Jamie Carragher dubbed Bayern a ‘team of individuals’ and that criticism was backed up by former Bayern star Owen Hargreaves.

“It’s just frustration. You look at the stats and possession wise you would expect them to dominate but zero shots on target? That is crazy,” Hargreaves told TNT Sports.

“Harry Kane was barely involved in the game. He wasn’t against Leverkusen and he wasn’t today. They need to find a way to speed the game up and get a bit quicker. They are not even playing nice football.

Fans suggest Harry Kane trophy curse is real

As Hargreaves mentioned, Bayern’s inability to create chances for top goalscorer Kane across two important matches is a cause for concern.

Kane, who has 28 goals to his name this season since joining the German giants from Tottenham Hotspur, is yet to win a major trophy for club or country.

The 30-year-old has won one World Cup and three Premier League Golden Boot awards but has no winners medals to show for his incredible haul of goals.

After years of loyalty towards Tottenham, and four final defeats across his career, Kane’s move to Bayern was supposed to finally end his trophy hoodoo.

But with Bayern already out of the DFB Pokal and facing an uphill battle in both the Bundesliga and now the Champions League, fans feel his curse has carried over to Germany.

One fan tweeted: “Lost German Super Cup final. Out of DFB Pokal. Five points off Bayer Leverkusen. Lost the first leg of UCL RO16, The Harry Kane curse is real.”

Another fan added: “The Harry Kane curse is real and also very powerful,” and another tweeted: “Harry Kane’s curse is slowly following Bayern Munich.”
