Lokonga impressed against United

Arsenal’s supporters have had plenty to shout about in recent weeks after a run of five consecutive Premier League victories.

The Gunners have scored 11 goals in their last two games, against West Ham and Burnley, to bolster their title chances.

And if that wasn’t enough, one of their loanee players was proving over the weekend why he has the potential to return to the Emirates to boost the quality of their squad further.

Stunning block to deny Fernandes

Sambi Lokonga is spending the campaign at Luton and stood out in their narrow defeat by Manchester United on Sunday.

The standout moment of his performance came when he produced an outstanding block to deny Bruno Fernandes what looked like a certain goal in the second half.

Gary Neville was on duty for the match and praised Lokonga’s “outstanding” performance and also described his display as “really good.”

Arsenal fans were waxing lyrical about their player on social media, with one writing: “Lokonga has everything Rice has and a bit of Thomas Partey’s flair. He just needs a coach who has trust in him to thrive.”

Another referenced William Saliba’s excellent loan spell at Marseille prior to establishing himself in North London. They wrote: “Lokonga is going the Saliba loan route. Bookmark this.”

Last week, Luton boss Rob Edwards sung the Belgian’s praises, saying: “I love him. He’s amazing.

“I think he’s a brilliant player. I told him as we were walking off the pitch after training, ‘god you’re some player, I love watching you play.’ He’s great. He’s been great for us.

“A brilliant person. So hard working, really humble, really talented, very tactically aware, in the right place at the right time to control a game, takes the ball under pressure.

“He’s giving us a final pass as well now. He’s looking like, for me, a really complete midfield player.”
