Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 players want a Director’s Cut after learning about deleted Symbiote bosses from a PC build leak.

The Spider-Man sequel from Insomniac featured a smorgasbord of Venom-related content, yet there’s reason to believe much was set aside during development.

For one, Venom’s voice actor, Tony Todd, has claimed that only 10 percent of his recorded lines ended up in the finished product. Many assume the lion’s share of Todd’s work will appear in the leaked spinoff title starring the iconic Spider-Man villain.

However, it seems other types of Symbiotes were initially meant to play a much larger part in the 2023 adventure.

A PC dev build for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 spawned from the recent Insomniac ransomware attack. And someone’s probed the files to find information about some of the sequel’s cut content.

Twitter user Worm shared a few details in a series of posts, one of which showcased models for a shelved boss fight versus Riot – another Symbiote-powered antagonist.

In a follow-up tweet, Worm posted early models of Riot and yet another Symbiote – Lasher. The Twitter user noted the following based on information featured in data files, “Apparently, Venom was going to appear in act 2 in an arc based on separation anxiety.”

After learning about Spider-Man 2’s cut Symbiote content, fans are calling for a Director’s Cut. One such comment below the aforementioned Twitter post reads, “God damn we need a director’s cut for this game so bad.”

Meanwhile, others have high hopes that Riot, Lasher, and whomever else was cut will either appear in DLC or the hopeful Venom spinoff. “I’m really hoping they put this stuff in a DLC man we need a whole arc of venom,” wrote another user in the thread.

Regardless of how it’s packaged, Insomniac clearly has bigger plans for its version of Venom and the Symbiotes. Fans will just have to wait and see how it all plays ahead in the years ahead.
