Palworld’s Community Manager has assured fans that the game’s planned PvP mode won’t fall into the same “pitfalls” that Rust did.

Palworld has absolutely taken the gaming world by storm in the past week after it was finally released in Early Access, even making it to the top 10 highest concurrently played games on Steam.

In all the hype surrounding its Early Access release, the development team at Pocketpair Inc. has revealed the roadmap for the survival monster-catching game, which included plans for PvP, Raid Bosses, and much more.

While many fans are curious as to what the PvP mode may look like, the game’s Community Manager has assured fans it will not have the same “pitfalls” as Rust.

Palworld devs assuage PvP fears with Rust comparison

The statement came from Pocketpair’s Community Manager Bucky, who made the declaration through the game’s Discord and shared via the Palworld subreddit.

According to the CM, “PvP in Palworld won’t be the PvP from Rust anyway.”

They continued and said, “There are 10 survival games on Steam monthly that launch with ‘lawless open PvP’ and none last more than a week. Palworld has a vision for PvP that will fit into the world without suffering from the same pitfalls that every other survival game except like 2 do.”

They concluded the message by affirming that Palworld will never be a “PvP toggle on go nuts” kind of game.

Many fans were pleased to see the comparison and praised Pocketpair for learning from other games. “Holy sh*t, it’s almost like Pocketpair learns from other games’ mistakes. I didn’t think this was possible in the gaming industry,” said one Reddit user.

Plenty of players seemed even more confident in the game following the message. “Honestly, from what I’ve seen so far from the dev team, this game has a bright future,” claimed one fan. “I hope the devs continue to update it kinda like Minecraft where it gets regular updates and it’s not just a 1 month/year popular game.”

However, others still had some concerns about what PvP could entail. “Gonna be awkward when you spend hours breeding the perfect pal with great passives only for some kid to steal it with the PvP ball and never see it again.”

It’s still too early to know what Palworld’s PvP will look like for sure, but it seems the developers are keen to avoid some of the missteps of other popular survival games in the past.
