Martin Garrix to perform during Overwatch League Grand Finals weekend

The 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals are in Philadelphia and EDM sensation Martin Garrix will be performing on Saturday, September 28 at an event hosted by the Wells Fargo Center.

“We’re kicking off the @overwatchleague Grand Finals Weekend with @martingarrix on Sept. 28 with @mattox__ and @pazpaz at the Wells Fargo Center!” the Fusion said on Twitter. 

“It’s not a party without the Fusion fam! Get in on the presale TOMORROW from 10AM-10PM ET!”

So far, the announcement has been received positively. Fusion off-tank Poko responded to the tweet with “Omgggg” and a heart emoji indicating he was excited for the concert.

23-year-old DJ Martin Garrix is an EDM artist from the Netherlands. He has performed at music festivals such as Coachella and Tomorrowland.

Earlier in 2019, Karma Fields played at the Dallas Fuel homestand games.

It’s likely an artist will be announced to perform the day of the finals. Last year, DJ Khaled performed at the Overwatch League Grand Finals at the Barclays Center in New York City.

Paz, who is also scheduled to perform at the Garrix concert poked fun at Khaled’s performance from last year. In a response to the Fusion he joked, “don’t worry Khaled sent me his set from last year all I have to do is hit play and eat a sandwich.” 

The Overwatch League Grand Finals match itself is scheduled for the following day, September 29. It will conclude the league’s second season and its playoffs.

The playoff format is a double elimination bracket featuring the league’s top six teams as well as two teams who can qualify through a play-in tournament at the end of stage 4.

Stage 4 of the Overwatch League kicks off Thursday, July 25.
