An advert by Blizzard themselves for a book titled ‘The Art of Diablo’ appears to have leaked the existence of Diablo 4.

The advert, which was placed in German magazine GameStar, states that the book contains “over 500 artworks from Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo III and Diablo IV”, suggesting that a fourth instalment in the franchise could well be on its way.

The leak comes less than two weeks ahead of BlizzCon, which takes place on November 1-3. BlizzCon is Blizzard’s annual convention at which they show off upcoming projects and new content for their various titles.

While it’s possible that there’s simply a mistake in the advert, with the book set to release on November 3, it could well coincide with a reveal for a new game.

There was some speculation about the potential announcement of Diablo 4 at last year’s BlizzCon, but instead it was the Diablo Immortal mobile game that was revealed. Many fans were left disappointed by the announcement, which itself led to the infamous exchange in which a developer asked the audience “do you guys not have phones?”

A new Diablo game isn’t the only sequel Blizzard are rumored to be announcing at BlizzCon. There has been speculation for some time now that a new Overwatch game might also be in the works, although while this has commonly been referred to as “Overwatch 2”, it’s not clear whether the game is a direct successor to Overwatch or a slightly different type of game set in the same universe.

Blizzard EntertainmentBlizzard are also rumored to be working on an “Overwatch 2”.

A successful BlizzCon could prove particularly important for Blizzard this year, after the company has faced criticism for its punishment of a Hearthstone pro who spoke out in support of the Hong Kong protests. Meanwhile, rival developer Riot Games recently unveiled a variety of upcoming projects, some of which – such as League of Legends-based card game Legends of Runeterra – look set to compete directly with Blizzard titles.

While there’s been no official word on what to expect at this year’s convention, new additions to multiple popular franchises could make for one of the most exciting BlizzCons of recent years.
